What happens in this chapter

Sita's vow of love, and Lakshmana's call

Her speech, like a bee, is held in the lotus of her mouth by the night of modesty, and her tears stay in the corners of her eyes like gold in a miser's grip. Gathering courage and faith, she resolves: if in body, mind and word my vow is true and my heart is given to Raghupati's feet, then Bhagwan who dwells in every heart will make me his servant. Whoever loves someone with a true heart wins that one, without doubt. Shri Rama, treasury of grace, knows her vow. He glances at Sita, then at the bow, as Garuda eyes a small snake. Seeing this, Lakshmana thrills, presses the earth with his foot and speaks.
