Rama asks leave to show Lakshmana the city
Lakshmana longs to go and see Janakpur, but out of awe for his brother and shyness before the muni he says nothing and only smiles to himself. Rama reads His brother's heart, and His love for His devotee wells up. Shyly, with the guru's leave, He says: Lord, Lakshmana wants to see the city but is too shy to say so. With your leave I will show him round and return at once. The muni answers lovingly: why would you not keep to propriety, Rama? You guard the bridge of dharma and, ruled by love, give joy to those who serve you. Go and see the city, both of you treasures of joy, and let everyone's eyes be blessed by the sight of your faces.
