Janaka asks: Lord, are these two lovely boys the pride of a line of munis or princes of a royal house? Or has the Brahman whom the Veda calls neti neti come in two forms? My mind is dispassion by nature, yet it is held by them as the chakora by the moon; seeing them it has let go of the bliss of Brahman. Tell me plainly. The muni smiles: you have spoken well, king; they are dear to every living being. Rama smiles inwardly. They are sons of Dasharatha, the muni says, sent for my sake. Rama and Lakshmana guarded my yajna and defeated the asuras in battle.
