Obeying, the king lay down, and the master of deceit went to his seat. The weary king fell fast asleep, but how could the other sleep, so great was his worry? Then the rakshasa Kalaketu came, the one who had taken the form of a boar and led the king astray. He was the ascetic-king's close friend. He had a hundred sons and ten brothers, wicked, unconquerable tormentors of the devas, whom Pratapbhanu had earlier slain in battle when he saw brahmins, saints and devas suffering. Recalling that old enmity, the villain plotted with the ascetic-king how to destroy their foe. An enemy full of power, even alone, should never be counted small: Rahu, only a head, still torments sun and moon.
