King Satyaketu and his two sons

Yajnavalkya tells Bharadvaja an old, holy katha that Shambhu told Girija. In the famed land of Kaikaya lived King Satyaketu, a pillar of dharma, a treasury of good policy, full of splendour, modesty and strength. He had two heroic sons, homes of every virtue and steady in battle. The elder, heir to the throne, was named Pratapbhanu; the younger was Arimardan, of matchless strength of arm and unshakable in war. The brothers loved each other closely, free of every fault and trick. The king gave the kingdom to his elder son and himself went to the forest for Hari. When Pratapbhanu became king, his rule was proclaimed across the land. He guarded his subjects by the rule of the Vedas, and nowhere was there a trace of sin.
