The Lord's promise and the couple's departure

The Lord continues: taking a human form of My own will, I will appear in your house. With My portions I will take a body, father, and do deeds that delight My devotees, hearing which people will cross the ocean of becoming. The Adi Shakti who brought forth the world, this maya of Mine, will also take birth. I will fulfil your wish; true, true, true is My vow. Saying this again and again, the merciful Lord vanished. Holding that bhakti in their hearts, the couple lived some time in that ashrama, then at the right hour left their bodies without pain and went to dwell in Amaravati. Yajnavalkya notes that Shiva told Uma this holy history, and turns to another cause of Shri Rama's birth.
