Kausalya blesses Sita softly and grows anxious seeing how delicate she is. Sita sits with bowed face, lovely and pure in her love for her husband, and wonders: my lord means to go to the forest; whose merit will win his company, my body with my life, or my life alone? She scratches the ground with her toenail, and her anklets jingle as if pleading not to be left behind. Tears fall from her lovely eyes. Rama's mother speaks: Sita is very tender and dear to her parents-in-law and to all the family. Her father Janaka is the jewel of kings, her father-in-law the sun of the Solar line, her husband the moon that opens the lilies of that clan.
