Bharata places himself in the elders' hands
Thrilled, eyes full, Bharata gathers great patience and speaks. Lord, you are dear and worshipful to me as my father; even mother and father are not the well-wishers the family guru is. Know me as your child, servant and follower of orders, and instruct me. That you should ask me, in this assembly and place, makes me, silent and soiled, speak like a madman. A small mouth says a big thing; forgive me, seeing fate is against me. The dharma of service is hard. Duty to the master clashes with self-interest; enmity is blind and love does not reason. Keep Rama's wish and his vow of dharma, know me dependent, and decide by everyone's consent, for the good of all.
