Bharata answers the guru with folded hands
Vasishtha continues: all agree Rama's coronation would bring joy, the one root of blessing and gladness. How can Raghuraja go to Ayodhya? Think and say, and let that be done. All hear the sage's words but no answer comes; the people are bewildered. Then Bharata bows and joins his hands. Many kings were born in the Solar line, each greater than the last. The world knows your blessing destroys sorrow and brings every good. Master, you are the one who blocked fate's course; who can overturn a resolve you have made? Now you ask me for a way. That is my misfortune. Hearing his words of love and fear, the guru's heart swells.
सब सादर सुनि मुनिबर बानी । नय-परमारथ-स्वारथ सानी ॥
उत्तर न आव लोग भये भोरे । तब सिर नाइ भरत कर जोरे ॥
saba sādara suni munibara bānī | naya-paramāratha-svāratha sānī ||
uttara na āva loga bhaye bhore | taba sira nāi bharata kara jore ||
मानु-बंस भये भूप घनेरे । अधिक एक तें एक बड़ेरे ॥
जनम हेतु सब कहं पितु-माता । करम सुभासुभ देइ बिधाता ॥
mānu-baṃsa bhaye bhūpa ghanere | adhika eka teṃ eka bar̤ere ||
janama hetu saba kahaṃ pitu-mātā | karama subhāsubha dei bidhātā ||
दलि दुख सजइ सकल कल्याना । असि असीस राउरि जग जाना ॥
सो गोसाइँ बिधि-गति जेहिं छेंकी । सकइ को टारि टेक जो टेकी ॥
dali dukha sajai sakala kalyānā | asi asīsa rāuri jaga jānā ||
so gosāim̐ bidhi-gati jehiṃ cheṃkī | sakai ko ṭāri ṭeka jo ṭekī ||
बूझिअ मोहि उपाउ अब, सो सब मोर अभाग ।
सुनि सनेह-भय बचन गुर, उर उमगा अनुरागु ॥
būjhia mohi upāu aba, so saba mora abhāga |
suni saneha-bhaya bacana gura, ura umagā anurāgu ||
