At Rama's words the company was afraid, like a ship tossing at sea; the guru's reply came like a favourable wind. Now the people bathe three times a day in the holy river whose very sight destroys sin. They gaze their fill at Rama, form of all blessing, prostrating again and again. They go to see Rama's hill and forest, where every joy is and no sorrow. Waterfalls pour nectar-sweet water, and a breeze cool, gentle and fragrant takes away the three afflictions. Countless kinds of trees, creepers and grasses bear fruit, flowers and leaves. There are lovely rocks and soothing shade; who could describe the forest's beauty? Lotuses bloom in the ponds, birds call and bees hum, and deer and birds of many colours wander without enmity.
