Bharata unmoved amid the sage's splendour

When Bharata sees the power of the sage, the worlds of the guardian gods seem small. Seats, beds, fine clothes and canopies, groves and gardens, birds and deer of many kinds, fragrant flowers, fruit like nectar, clear pools of every sort, pure food and drink sweeter than amrita: the people shrink from it like men under vows. Each has a wish-cow and a wish-tree that would make Indra and Shachi envious. Spring reigns with its threefold breeze, and the four aims of life are within everyone's reach. Yet wealth is the chakwi and Bharata the chakwa, and the sage's order the game: that night the hermitage kept them in one cage until dawn, and they did not meet.
