Ayodhya rejoices and prepares to follow
No small joy fills every heart, like the chataka and peacock hearing thunder. Seeing the good resolve to leave at dawn, all hold Bharata dear as life. Bowing to the sage and to Bharata, they take leave and go home, praising his gentleness and love: blessed is Bharata's life in this world. They tell one another that a great thing has been done, and all prepare to go. Anyone asked to stay behind and guard the house feels as if his throat had been cut. Some say, let no one be told to stay; who does not want the true gain of life? Let that wealth, house, comfort, friend, mother, father and brother burn, they say, which does not gladly help one turn toward Rama's feet.
