Bharadvaja's welcome and his prayer for love

Bharadvaja asks after their welfare, gives them seats and worships them with full love. He brings good roots, fruits and tender shoots, as if made of nectar. With Sita, Lakshmana and Guha, Rama eats with great relish, and his weariness leaves him. Then the muni speaks softly. Today my tapas, pilgrimage and renunciation have borne fruit; today my japa, yoga and detachment are fulfilled. Seeing you, Rama, every good practice has been rewarded. There is no greater gain or joy; seeing you has met every hope. Now grant me this boon in your mercy: natural love for your lotus feet. Until a person becomes yours in deed, word and mind without deceit, he finds no happiness even in dreams, whatever millions of remedies he tries.
