Sita prays to the Ganga and is blessed

Raghunatha bathes, worships Shiva in an earthen linga and bows his head. Sita joins her palms and prays to the Ganga: Mother, fulfil my wish, that I may come back safely with my husband and brother-in-law and worship you. A clear voice rises from the waters. Listen, Vaidehi, beloved of Raghubira: who in the world does not know your power? At your glance beings become guardians of the worlds, and all the siddhis serve you with joined palms. By making so humble a request you have honoured me. Still, goddess, I give my blessing so that my speech may bear fruit: you will return safely to Kosala with your lord and his brother, your every wish will be fulfilled, and your fame will fill the world.
