Sita offers her ring; the boatman refuses fare

Sita, Rama, Guha and Lakshmana step onto the Ganga's sand, and the boatman prostrates. The Lord feels awkward at giving him nothing. Sita, who knows her beloved's heart, gladly takes off her jewelled ring, and Rama says: take your fare. The boatman clasps his feet. Lord, what have I not received today? The fire of my faults, sorrows and poverty is put out. After long labour the Creator has paid me in full. I want nothing more; whatever you give on your way back I will take on my head as prasad. The Lord, Lakshmana and Sita press him, but he takes nothing, and Rama sends him off with the boon of pure bhakti.
