About thirty letters from Tipu Sultan to the Jagadguru of Sringeri, among them his reply after Maratha horsemen raided the math in 1791.

What it says

During the Third Anglo-Mysore War a Maratha force under Raghunath Rao Patwardhan plundered Sringeri and disturbed the image of Sharadamba. Jagadguru Sachchidananda Bharati III wrote to Tipu, who replied with anger at the raid and sent money and grain so the goddess could be consecrated again.

What it proves

They show Tipu dealing with a great math inside his own kingdom. They are read beside the record of his campaigns in Malabar and Coorg, where Hindus suffered forced conversion and temples were attacked.
