01A padigam in stone

The Tirumurai compiled by Nambiyandar Nambi did not hold every hymn the saints sang; some were lost. At Tiruvidaivasal a padigam of Sambandar on this shrine had been cut into the temple wall, and when it was read in 1917 the place took its place among the Paadal Petra Sthalams. The village name is said to come from Vidaiyan, a king of the solar line who built and worshipped here. The kasturi arali is the sthala tree, and Chitra Pournami is the main festival.
