Kavi Bhargava's third gayatri sukta is a prayer for rain. Soma is asked to pour the rain of heaven, the wave of waters, and abundant food free of sickness. Let him flow in the stream by which the cows of other folk come to our home. Most welcome to the Devas at the yajna, let him pour ghee in a stream and rain for us. For our strength he is to run through the woollen filter, so that the Devas may hear. Pavamana has streamed forth, striking away the rakshasas, making the lights shine as of old.
