Medhyatithi Kanva's second gayatri sukta names the rishi himself in the third verse. Soma, groomed like a steed and dressed with milk for joy, is clothed by the singers with their songs. All the songs that seek his help adorn Indu, in the old way, for Indra to drink. Purified, the lovely Soma goes forth, adorned by the hymns of the sage Medhyatithi. He is asked to find splendid wealth of a thousand lustres. Like a racing horse, Indu neighs on the filter as he streams toward the Devas. The rishi asks strong sons and growth for the praising singer.
