Prishadhra Kanva sings the eighth Valakhilya sukta, again a danastuti for Dasyave Vrika, with Agni and Surya in the last verse. The patron's bounty is seen, broad as heaven. Dasyave Vrika, son of Putakratu, gave the rishi ten thousand from his own wealth, a hundred asses, a hundred woolly ewes and, as the text says plainly, a hundred dasas besides garlands. A mare was led out for Putakrata too, adorned, not of the herd of horses. The last verse, in pankti, turns to the yajna: Agni, the bearer of offerings with his good chariot, has been seen; he shone with bright flame, and the sun shone high in heaven.
