Hymn to the divine Waters

Vasishtha praises the Waters. That first wave of yours, which the god-seekers made into Indra's drink, pure, spotless, dripping ghee and full of honey, may we enjoy today. Let Apam Napat, the swift one, guard that sweetest wave in which Indra rejoices with the Vasus. The goddesses, purified a hundred ways, delighting in their own nature, go to the place of the gods and never break Indra's laws; offer the rivers a ghee-rich oblation. The waters the sun has spread with his rays, for whom Indra cut a path, are asked to give us wide room and to protect us always.
