What happens in this chapter

Savitar with arms of gold

In four verses Vasishtha calls god Savitar to come with his horses, rich in treasure, filling the mid-air, holding in his hands many gifts for men, laying the world to rest and rousing it again. His long, loose golden arms reach to the ends of heaven; his greatness is praised, and even the sun yields its work to him. Let mighty Savitar, lord of goods, send us wealth, spreading his wide radiance, and give us food for mortals. These songs praise the fair-tongued Savitar of full hands and good hands. The rishi asks for a bright, ample life, and closes with the refrain asking protection always.
