What happens in this chapter

Called on in the fight for sunlight

Vasishtha calls Indra to come with his strength and to be the increase of this wealth, lord of men with the good vajra, for great manliness and dominion. Heroes call on him in the clash of voices, for their own bodies and for winning the sun; among all peoples he is the one to lead armies, so let him make the obstacles easy to slay. When the days dawn fair and he sets his banner in battle, Agni sits as hotar calling the gods. 'We are yours, Indra, and those who praise you and give gifts.' The rishi asks highest shelter for the patrons, that they may reach old age.
