What happens in this chapter

You are Varuna, you are Mitra

In three verses Vasishtha approaches the youngest Agni with great homage, the many-hued one kindled in his own house between the wide worlds, well offered and facing every way. By his might he overcomes all troubles; praised in the home, may he guard us and our patrons from sin and blame. Then the closing verse: 'You are Varuna, and you are Mitra, O Agni; the Vasishthas make you grow with their hymns. May treasures be easy to win in you.' The sukta ends with the clan's refrain asking for protection always.
