What happens in this chapter

Dawn who opened the cow-stall

Bharadvaja Barhaspatya sings again to Ushas in trishtubh. This daughter of heaven, born in the sky, has woken the human dwellings; with her bright glow she is seen through the dark of the nights. The dawns go with ruddy horses and shining chariots, leading the great yajna forward and driving away the night's darkness. They bring fame, food and vigour to the giver; now is the time for treasure. The Angirases praise Dawn, who stands on the mountain, for they split the cow-pens with their song and prayer, and the calling of the devas came true. Shine as of old, the poet asks, as you did for Bharadvaja.
