Four mantras of Bharadvaja Barhaspatya to Pushan, in trishtubh with one jagati. Day and night are his two forms, one bright, one dark, and he is like heaven itself; he upholds every power and his gift is auspicious. Goat-drawn, guardian of herds, he quickens thought and is set over the whole world, watching all beings as he goes, his goad raised. His golden ships move within the sea of the middle air, and in them he travels as messenger of Surya. The devas gave him, strong and handsome, to Surya's daughter, for he was moved by love.
