What happens in this chapter

Pushan eats gruel and rolls the sun

Bharadvaja Barhaspatya praises Pushan in gayatri with a closing anushtubh. Whoever speaks of him only as the eater of karambha, the barley gruel, does not do him justice: he is the finest charioteer, Indra's true companion when Indra slays Vritra. Pushan drove down the golden wheel of the sun among the dappled cows. The poet asks him, wonder-worker praised by many, to bring to success the thought now offered, and to lead to its gain this band that goes seeking cows. The last mantra asks for well-being, far from harm and near to wealth, today and tomorrow, for full welfare.
