What happens in this chapter

Dawns, months and years make Indra grow

Bharadvaja, son of Brihaspati, praises Indra in trishtubh. May the most wonderful one drink from here and carry off our great, bright invocation. His ears are far-reaching; may this call to the gods turn him toward me. With the highest thought the rishi lauds the ancient, unaging Indra. Then a refrain of growth: let the sacrifice and Soma make Indra grow, let prayers, songs and hymns make him grow, let the dawns and nights, the months, the autumns and the days make him grow. The rishi closes by resolving to serve the mighty, fierce Indra for help in the battles with Vritra.
