What happens in this chapter
Agni shining from the middle of the house
Bharadvaja, son of Brihaspati, praises Agni in trishtubh as the hotar seated in the middle of the house, king of the sacred grass, who spreads his glow from afar like the sun. His blaze, sharpest of all, rules the woods; he flashes like a weapon on the road and is never caught among the plants. Like a running horse or a racer, he is praised at home by the worshippers; he goes over the earth wherever he will. The rishi asks Agni, kindled with all fires, to keep off blame and misfortune and to grant a hundred winters with heroes.
आ यस्मि॒न्त्वे स्वपा॑के यजत्र॒ यक्ष॑द्राजन्स॒र्वता॑तेव॒ नु द्यौः ।
त्रि॒ष॒धस्थ॑स्तत॒रुषो॒ न जंहो॑ ह॒व्या म॒घानि॒ मानु॑षा॒ यज॑ध्यै

सास्माके॑भिरे॒तरी॒ न शू॒षैर॒ग्निः ष्ट॑वे॒ दम॒ आ जा॒तवे॑दाः ।
द्र्व॑न्नो व॒न्वन्क्रत्वा॒ नार्वो॒स्रः पि॒तेव॑ जार॒यायि॑ य॒ज्ञैः
sāsmākebhiretarī na śūṣairagniḥ ṣṭave dama ā jātavedāḥ |
drvanno vanvankratvā nārvosraḥ piteva jārayāyi yajñaiḥ
अध॑ स्मास्य पनयन्ति॒ भासो॒ वृथा॒ यत्तक्ष॑दनु॒याति॑ पृ॒थ्वीम् ।

sa tvaṃ no arvannidāyā viśvebhiragne agnibhiridhānaḥ |
veṣi rāyo vi yāsi ducchunā madema śatahimāḥ suvīrāḥ
