What happens in this chapter

Agni shines, the Ashvins are called

Atri Bhauma calls the Ashvins in Trishtubh. Agni, the face of the dawns, shines out, and the singers' voices rise toward the Devas. Come here now, charioteers, to the swelling gharma. They never spoil what is well prepared; they are the swiftest to help and kindest to the giver. Come at the milking time of morning, at noon, at sunrise, by day and by night with your gracious aid. This place has long been your home, these houses are yours. Come from heaven and from the mountain and the waters, bringing food and strength. The last verse prays for new help, wealth, heroes and every blessing.
