Yajata Atreya gives a short Gayatri hymn of five verses to Mitra and Varuna. Sing to them with an inspired voice, for great is their rule and high the rita they keep. They are emperors born of ghee, praised among the Devas. The rishi asks them for great wealth of earth and of heaven, for their rule is mighty among the Devas. Reaching rita through rita, they have won vigorous strength, and these two Devas who never deceive grow ever greater. Lords of rain and of refreshing food, they have mounted their lofty seat.
