Mitra makes room even from distress

Ratahavya Atreya praises Mitra and Varuna in Anushtubh, with a closing Pankti. Let the one who knows, wise among the Devas, speak for us, he whose songs fair Varuna or Mitra welcome. They are kings of the best splendour, who hear from farthest away, lords of the good, growing by rita in every people. Mitra finds a way to a dwelling even out of distress, and his goodwill rests on the worshipper. May we stay in Mitra's widest protection, free of sin, under Varuna's care. The last verse asks them to bring people together, not to pass over the generous, and to guard the rishis.
