Vishvavara goes east with ghee
Vishvavara of the Atri family, a woman rishi, sings to Agni in mixed metres. Kindled Agni has lifted his flame to heaven and shines wide toward the dawn. Vishvavara goes eastward, praising the devas with reverence and with the ghee-filled ladle. Kindled, Agni rules over immortality and stays with the one who prepares the offering for welfare. She asks him to show his might for great good fortune, to make the bond of wife and husband well ordered, and to tread down the strength of those who act as foes. The closing gayatris praise his glory and call all to pour offerings and choose him as carrier.
