What happens in this chapter The first unbreakable vows of the devas Eight trishtubh verses to the Vishvedevas by Prajapati Vaishvamitra or Prajapati Vachya. Neither the cunning nor the wise can break the first, firm vows of the devas; heaven and earth and the mountains stand unbowed. The hymn is woven on the number three: the one unmoving bears six burdens; three great ones stand above; the bull has three bellies and three faces; there are three seats and three rivers; the samraj has three mothers. Savitar is asked to send choice goods three times a day, and threefold wealth. Three times from heaven he impels Mitra and Varuna.
