Praise the great Indra, fashioned by devas

Five trishtubh verses of Vishvamitra to Indra. The rishi calls on the singers to praise great Indra, in whom all Soma-drinking peoples find their wish, whom the devas brought forth through heaven and earth as the striker of Vritras. None overcomes him in battle, the self-ruler, best of men, standing on his bays; with his warriors he cut short the life of the Dasyu. He pervades heaven and earth, to be called like Bhaga in contests, dear as a father. He upholds the sky, rises like Vayu with his teams, clothes the nights, begets the sun and apportions shares.
