The newborn Indra drinks Soma
Five trishtubh verses of Vishvamitra on Indra's birth. As soon as he was born, the young bull helped the one who offered the pressed juice; he is to drink as he likes, first of the Soma mixed with milk. On the day of his birth he drank the mountain-grown stalk's milk, which his mother poured for him in his great father's house. Approaching his mother, he asked for food and saw the sharp Soma as the udder. Fierce and overpowering, he shaped his body as he wished; overcoming Tvashtar at birth, he drank the Soma from the bowls. The refrain closes.
यज्जाय॑था॒स्तदह॑रस्य॒ कामें॒ऽशोः पी॒यूष॑मपिबो गिरि॒ष्ठाम् ।
तं ते॑ मा॒ता परि॒ योषा॒ जनि॑त्री म॒हः पि॒तुर्दम॒ आसि॑ञ्च॒दग्रे॑
