Five short verses of Vishvamitra to Agni, the first in anushtubh, the rest gayatri. Agni is asked to overpower hostile armies and drive off the arrogant, and, hard to overcome, to give splendour to the one who carries out the rite. Kindled with Ila, immortal, he is to enjoy their worship. Wakeful son of strength, he is asked to sit on the rishi's barhis. With all the fires and the devas he is to magnify the hymns. Finally he is asked to give the giver wealth with heroes and to sharpen them, rich in sons.
