7 verses · 13 of 62
Rishabha, son of Vishvamitra, sings seven anushtubh verses to Agni. He asks the people to sing to the deva Agni so that he comes with the devas, the best of sacrificers, and sits on the barhis. Heaven and earth follow his skill; those with offerings call him for protection. He is the guide of the inspired and of the sacrifices, the giver and winner of bounty. The rishi prays for shelter that pours wealth from heaven and the waters, for nearness in the prayers, and for wealth in thousands with sons, growth and lasting heroic strength.
