Indra and Agni called to the Soma

Vishvamitra invites the paired devas Indra and Agni to the pressed Soma, in nine gayatri verses. Roused by thought, they are asked to come and drink; the wakeful yajna goes to them with the singer. The rishi chooses them, the slayers of Vritra, victorious and unconquered, the best winners of strength. With a single deed the two shook down ninety forts ruled by Dasas. Prayers go to them along the paths of rita. Their strong seats and their food are praised, and in contests they shine around the bright realms of heaven; their heroism is well known.

12.1

इन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ आ ग॑तं सु॒तं गी॒र्भिर्नभो॒ वरे॑ण्यम् ।
अ॒स्य पा॑तं धि॒येषि॒ता

indrāgnī ā gataṃ sutaṃ gīrbhirnabho vareṇyam |
asya pātaṃ dhiyeṣitā

इन्द्रा॑ग्नी जरि॒तुः सचा॑ य॒ज्ञो जि॑गाति॒ चेत॑नः ।
अ॒या पा॑तमि॒मं सु॒तम्

indrāgnī jarituḥ sacā yajño jigāti cetanaḥ |
ayā pātamimaṃ sutam

इन्द्र॑म॒ग्निं क॑वि॒च्छदा॑ य॒ज्ञस्य॑ जू॒त्या वृ॑णे ।
ता सोम॑स्ये॒ह तृ॑म्पताम्

indramagniṃ kavicchadā yajñasya jūtyā vṛṇe |
tā somasyeha tṛmpatām

तो॒शा वृ॑त्र॒हणा॑ हुवे स॒जित्वा॒नाप॑राजिता ।
इ॒न्द्रा॒ग्नी वा॑ज॒सात॑मा

tośā vṛtrahaṇā huve sajitvānāparājitā |
