What happens in this chapter

The honest singer wins through

Four short jagati verses by Gritsamada to Brahmanaspati. The upright singer overcomes the attacker; the one who seeks the devas overcomes the one who does not. The one who sacrifices takes the share of the one who will not. The rishi urges the hero to offer, to set his mind to good in the fight against Vritra, and to choose the protection of Brahmanaspati. Whoever honours Brahmanaspati, father of the devas, with faith and offering wins strength and wealth with his people, his kin and his sons. Brahmanaspati leads such a man forward, guards him from distress and harm, and widens his way.
