Five jagati verses by Gritsamada, each ending "whomever Brahmanaspati makes his ally". The man who kindles Agni, makes prayer and gives offerings overcomes those who attack him. He wins heroes with heroes, spreads his wealth in cattle, and his children and grandchildren grow. Like a river in flood he cannot be checked, like a bull he masters the weak, and like the onrush of fire he cannot be held back. The heavenly waters flow to him unfailing; he goes first among warriors to the cows. All the rivers roar for him, and he thrives in the favour of the devas.
