The Maruts, bright as heroes
Syumarashmi Bhargava praises the Maruts in Trishtubh and Jagati, almost every line built on likenesses. They scatter wealth like rain from clouds; the rishi praises their troop to make it shine. The young men put on ornaments for glory; sons of heaven, Adityas, they grew mighty. They exceeded heaven and earth as the sun outshines the clouds; they are bold like heroes, splendid like young men. Bright as light at daybreak, like falcons, they range far. The rishi asks them, knowing what is worth giving, to drive hatred far away. Whoever offers to the Maruts gains wealth and heroes and the devas' protection.
