What happens in this chapter

Let not our minds stray from the path

The Gaupayana brothers Bandhu, Shrutabandhu and Viprabandhu pray to the Vishvedevas in six short Gayatri verses. Let us not stray from the path, Indra, nor from the Soma sacrifice; let no enemies stand among us. May we reach the thread of sacrifice that is stretched among the devas. We call back the mind with the Soma of Narashamsa and the thoughts of the fathers. Let your mind come back to you for will, for strength, for life, to see the sun long. May the fathers and the divine folk give us back the mind, and may we, Soma, holding the mind in our bodies, keep your vow with our offspring.
