The bird seen by the wise heart

Patanga Prajapatya speaks on piercing maya, in trishtubh and jagati, in three verses. The wise see with heart and mind the bird anointed by the asura's maya; the seers look within the ocean, and the ordainers seek the footprint of his rays. The bird bears speech in his mind; the gandharva spoke it within the womb; the poets guard that shining, heavenly insight in the seat of rta. I saw the herdsman who never rests, moving near and far on his paths; clothed in gathering and spreading rays, he turns again and again within the worlds. The rishis read the bird as the sun.
