Indra, ruler who gives fearlessness

Shasa Bharadvaja praises Indra in anushtubh. You are a great ruler, wonderful, devourer of foes; your friend is never slain and never overcome. Lord of the clans, giver of welfare, slayer of Vritra, master of enemies, the bull Indra, drinker of soma, maker of fearlessness, is asked to go before us. Strike away the rakshas and the foes, break Vritra's jaws, Indra, and the fury of the enemy who would enslave us. Bring low those who fight us; send to lowest darkness the one who attacks. Turn away the hater's mind and the weapon of the one who would harm; give wide shelter from wrath.
