What happens in this chapter

Seven rishis heal the sick man

Each of the seven great rishis speaks one verse in anushtubh: Bharadvaja, Kashyapa, Gotama, Atri, Vishvamitra, Jamadagni and Vasishtha, calling on the Vishvedevas. Devas, raise up the one who has fallen; give life again to the one who has erred. Two winds blow, one from the sea and one from afar: let one bring strength and the other carry away the fault. Vata is the healer of all and the messenger of the devas. The waters are medicine and drive out disease. The last verse lays two ten-branched hands, with the tongue leading speech, gently on the patient.
