Kumara and Yama's tree

Kumara Yamayana addresses Yama in anushtubh. In the tree of fair leaves where Yama drinks with the Devas, our father, lord of the house, longs for the ancients. The boy saw him going that way and, though at first grudging, longed for him again. "Boy, the new chariot without wheels that you made with your mind, one-poled and facing every way, you mount without seeing." The Saman rolled after the chariot the boy set going. Who begot the boy, who turned the chariot? The last verse: this is Yama's seat, called the dwelling of the Devas; here his flute is blown, here he is adorned with songs.
