What happens in this chapter

Agni who burns the rakshasas

Urukshaya Amahiyava praises Agni as slayer of rakshasas in gayatri. Shining among mortals in his own dwelling, pure in vow, Agni strikes down the devourer. He rises when offered, delights in the ghee as the ladles come together, and his face is anointed with honey-sweet ghee. Mortals call on him, the immortal, undeceivable master of the house. With his flame he is asked to burn the rakshasas and to scorch the sorceresses, shining as guardian of Rita. The Urukshayas, people of wide dwellings, have kindled him with hymns as the best offerer among men.
