Lopamudra and Agastya: tapas and household

A dialogue between wife and husband; the Anukramani names Rati, marital love, as devata, the metre trishtubh with one brihati. Lopamudra speaks first: through many autumns she has toiled, and age wears away beauty; even the truth-keeping rishis of old did not stay apart from their wives. Agastya answers that their austerity is not wasted, and together they will win both aims. Desire comes upon him and she draws him to her. A disciple then asks the Soma he has drunk to pardon any fault, for a mortal has many longings. The last verse says Agastya, seeking offspring, nourished both paths, and his prayers came true.
