How have your bright flames served the man who gives, Agni? Dirghatamas asks in trishtubh, and asks Agni to wake to his words. One reviles you, another praises; I, your worshipper, bow to your body. Your guardians who saw the blind son of Mamata protected him from harm; the all-knowing one guarded the doers of good, and those who wished to deceive could not. Here Dirghatamas speaks of himself. Whoever harms us with double speech, let his own spell fall back on him. Guard the singer, Agni, and give us to no misfortune.
